Los límites de Santo Domingo son: al norte y al este Pichincha, al noroeste Esmeraldas, al oeste Manabí, al sur Los Ríos y al sureste Cotopaxi. Se encuentra a 133 km al oeste de Quito. Su temperatura habitual ronda los 21-33 °C en verano. Durante el invierno, las temperaturas oscilan entre los 23-32 °C y a veces alcanzan los 36 °C. Su temperatura media es de 25,5 °C.
